Our hottest House mate

If only we could get a room with Greg Hughes. Unfortunately, you can only catch him in public.

You take a look at that House Education Committee and who catches your eye? It's Greg, of course, that venerable, and very hot, Republican rep from Draper.

He's a true teacher's friend, that Greg Hughes.

Greg Hughes, R-Draper
The other House hottie

If Utah wants smaller class sizes, higher teacher pay, updated textbooks, more classroom computers and arts & music back in its classrooms, we have two choices -- spend more money or spend money more wisely, he says at greghughes.org.

The wisest thing you did today is elect Hughes as the hottest male member of the Utah House of Representatives.

With a come-from-behind win over Paul Ray in the closing minutes of his poll, Hughes has the kind of gumption that will make sure those education committee meetings will never quite be the same again.

This just in from Greg:

Wow! This is a great honor. It may be the highlight of my political career. So I guess I should thank mom and my dad for giving me the genes to win this award. But more importantly, I would like to thank Brooks Brothers,
Rogaine, Crest, my bathroom mirror, and Dr. Felt, my plastic surgeon.

And to all of those who said I would never amount to anything, let me quote Toby Keith by saying "How do you like me now!!!"

See, a sense of humor, too!!! How hot is that?

Poll results:
Greg Hughes: 42 percent
Paul Ray: 36 percent
David Litvack:15 percent
Mike Morley: 6 percent
James Dunnigan: 0
Aaron Tilton: 0

A House "keeper"

With this kind of momentum, we expect to see Jennifer Seelig spend many happy years getting elected. First, she was appointed to the Utah House to fill the spot of retiring Rep. Duane Bourdeaux. Then she got elected to the House on skill.

Now, she's been elected to a different kind of hall of fame, the hot hall of fame.
Congratulations, Jennifer.

This PhD candidate has wowed all of us with her work on various committees. All we can say is: How hot is that?

Hottest male county official in Utah

Did we tell you Thomas Low, Wasatch County's venerable county attorney, had mythical greatness, or did we tell you Thomas Low, Wasatch County's venerable county attorney, had mythical greatness?

Of course we told you.

"Once upon a time, there was a man named Thomas. And Thomas was hot, so hot that would demolish the competition when the good people voted. And there was never anyone hotter."

That's how the story of Thomas Low will be written, as least if Elected Hotties gets to write it. (We're hoping for the movie rights, as well.)

Thomas Low
The hottest!

Thomas won yet another astounding victory over previous county winners Michael Jensen, Marty Gleave, Kurt Taylor and Dale Eyre, each of whom had his own astounding victory. Thomas just has the astoundingest victory so far.

Let's see where his hotness gets him in the semifinals in a few weeks. See you Monday.

Poll results:
Thomas Low: 70 percent

Ladies of the House

Poll No. 12

Don't get us wrong. We love county government. Some say it's the purest form of government there is, but no one knows anything about it. A lot of people think that where laws go down is in the Legislature, so we're happy to showcase the hotties in the Utah House, starting with the ladies.

For the next two weeks, feast your eyes on the following reps:
Karen Morgan, a Democrat from District 46 in Salt Lake City is taking on Lorie Fowlke, a Republican in District 59 in Orem, Jennifer Seelig, a Democrat from District 23 in Salt Lake City, and Christine Johnson, from District 25 in Salt Lake City. May the politicking begin!

Hottest female county official in Utah

We've already sung the praises of Karen Sunday, the Morgan County Councilwoman who won hottest female county official of northern Utah.

But this hot councilwoman has added another victory to her name. In the poll closing today, she has been named hottest female county official in the entire state.

She beat out Sherrie Swensen, Brandy Grace and Camille Moore, all of whom had astonishing victories in their categories.

Karen Sunday
The hottest!

It's going to be a while before we hear from Karen again. You see, we've got to put her on the backburner until we complete various other polls to figure out the hottest of the hot from the Utah Legislature, Utah's city councils and Utah's mayors. Then, you'll be allowed to gaze upon her beauty again.

Poll results:
Karen Sunday: 66 percent
Sherrie Swensen: 16 percent
Brandy Grace: 16 percent

A new sheriff in Hot Town

In Piute County, Marty Gleave is a sheriff without a jail. He has to truck his inmates up to Sevier County just to lock them up.
But what Marty hasn't locked up is the race for hottest sheriff in Utah. He tied for first place this week with Wayne County Sheriff Kurt Taylor, another sheriff without a jail.

These two sheriffs have more in common, though, that their hotness, their lack of jails and their uncanny ability to pull off their cowboy hats. These two southern Utah brothers from another mothers have a movie star quality. Marty's got a Harrison Ford thing going on, while Kurt's got a Heath Ledger similarity. Lucky dogs.

But only one of them can win, and since Kurt already had a big win in our southern Utah poll, the Elected Hotties editorial board has selected Marty as the hottest sheriff in Utah.

Marty Gleave
Posse up!

You can just picture Marty on his horse, Thunder or Old Boy or Sarsparilla, riding after the Bartley brothers, who held up the mercantile store. (For some reason, he's also in the 1800s.) You can see the sun beating down on his hat as those no-good Bartleys call the good sheriff yellow. But Marty stands his ground and gets into a shootout with the Bartleys. Then he hog-ties them and straps them to his horse for a couple nights in the clink. That's hot.

See you Monday!

Poll results:
Marty Gleave: 36 percent
Kurt Taylor: 36 percent
David Edmunds: 18 percent
Mark Gower: 9 percent
Kevin Holman: 0
Jim Winder: 0
